Recently our students participated in The Winds Of Joy program with the Making Waves Foundation. The program offers sailing opportunities to children with disabilities. It was smiles all round, and a perfect day for a sail in the Sydney Harbour.
During the program participants:
- Steer the boat and learn some basic sailing skills
- Meet and engage with mentors and role models
- Experience first-hand, new, practical solutions to challenges
- Take photos and memories back to the classroom for continued learning
We believe each of our students has a yearning and the capacity for a rich and meaningful life. Our task as educators is to transform these strengths and qualities into capacities that will serve them in the world beyond school. Programs such as this provide rich opportunities for our students to engage in nature and the world around them.
