We are very lucky to have partnered with Kiwanis and are grateful for their ongoing support.
Our weaving program
Warrah Specialist School is immensely thankful for Kiwanis’s contribution to our weaving program. Their generous donation of a new loom has allowed us to introduce more complex weaving patterns to the students, which is especially beneficial to those who are ready to progress beyond their current weaving abilities.
A very special weaving project
In celebration of the generous gift of our new loom, a unique project has taken shape. Each student in the school has contributed to weaving a section of our exquisite pure wool wall hanging, consisting of four colourful panels, each symbolising a distinct season. This remarkable creation adorns the heart of our school, our school hall, and is testament to the kindness of Kiwanis and the exceptional dedication of our master weaving volunteer, Marianne.
Sensory equipment donation
In addition to the wonderful loom, Kiwanis made a generous donation of sensory equipment. Sensory equipment allows our students to explore their surroundings in new ways. They’re especially helpful for children with conditions like ASD or ADHD as they help with sensory regulation and integration. It is extremely beneficial for our students to have a place to self-regulate, and this donation has allowed us to create a safe, quiet sensory environment for this to take place.
Terrific Kids: Nurturing character and confidence
A shining example of Kiwanis’s impact is their Terrific Kids program. Each semester 2 of our students are celebrated for their achievements. Kiwanis representatives visit our school to present these deserving students with a certificate and gift voucher. It is wonderful to be able to honour our students in this way, thanks to Kiwanis.
